To reduce my carbon footprint, I decided to spend a day eating vegetarian. I found this task to be much easier than I imagined. Both Argos and Andros have salad bars and the food was easily available. I did miss eating meat but it wasn’t unbearable. I could easily be a vegetarian if it was necessary.
In addition to changing my eating my habits, I decided to use public transportation instead of carpooling. I had to wake up 30 minutes earlier, to have enough time to walk to the bus stop. Besides the missed sleep, there were no other inconveniences.
A basic principal of Economics is opportunity cost. Basically, how much could you make if you were doing something else. In my opinion, the benefits of driving and joys of eating meet greatly out way problems facing our environment. To some this may seem like an egocentric outlook. However, there is not evidence to prove that global warming is a man made problem.
