The results from the online quiz stated that if everyone shared my lifestyle, we’d need 3.3 Planet Earths to provide enough resources. It takes 14.5 global acres of the Earth’s productive area to support me.

To reduce my carbon footprint, I decided to spend a day eating vegetarian. I found this task to be much easier than I imagined. Both Argos and Andros have salad bars and the food was easily available. I did miss eating meat but it wasn’t unbearable. I could easily be a vegetarian if it was necessary.

In addition to changing my eating my habits, I decided to use public transportation instead of carpooling. I had to wake up 30 minutes earlier, to have enough time to walk to the bus stop. Besides the missed sleep, there were no other inconveniences.

A basic principal of Economics is opportunity cost. Basically, how much could you make if you were doing something else. In my opinion, the benefits of driving and joys of eating meet greatly out way problems facing our environment. To some this may seem like an egocentric outlook. However, there is not evidence to prove that global warming is a man made problem.

I recently declared a business major, because it is a very general course of study and can be applied to many career paths. I spent most of my week in Orlando because of some health problems. Because I was away from the USF, I did not have the opportunity to speak to a local professor. Instead I contacted my instructor from my Intro to Business class at Valencia Community College.

Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in business usually decide to further their education and pursue an MBA. Eventually graduates are employed in the fields of advertising and marketing. Usually filling positions of public relations managers, education administrators, financial managers, human resources managers, and even top executives of major corporation.

Government economists expect little change in the number of jobs for business majors between 2006 and 2016. High pay and status make many jobs in this field very desirable, so tough competition exists. Job growth varies from industry to industry. In those that provide professional, scientific, and technical services, growth should be faster than average. On the other hand, some manufacturing industries will probably lose jobs.

Professor Lonam discussed with me some of the qualities required to succeed in an executive position. He advised to learn how to make decisions about what to sell and whom to sell to. To prepare for these tough choices I should research the market and attend meetings held by local companies or watch televised conferences.

The Next Four Years

Throughout history civilizations have debated the ethics of abortion. Personally, I have never why the discourse was necessary. Regardless of if life occurs at conception, a fetus does eventually become a living breathing person. Would anyone argue that without a seed, a plant would never grow? Thus, destroying a seed is killing a plant. Why isn't the same logic applied everywhere?  Currently, this discussion is a main issue in American politics. It is our responsibility to overturn Roe v Wade.
